I'll start by retracting what I said before about Persephone. I don't
believe that she is the mother of the matrix that the architect was
speaking of. I'm going to say that like the Greek myth that her name
comes from, she is the daughter of the mother of the matrix. In the
myth, Persephone was kidnapped by Hades, but was allowed to visit her
mother for part of the year. In the movie, Persephone's husband was
quite a Hades or devil character. The whole temptation cake sealed it
for me. I'm thinking that the mother of the matrix is not the Oracle,
not Persephone, but somebody that we haven't seen yet.

And here is my second revelation and isn't quite all worked out yet.
Agent Smith is one of Neo's predecessors. He was once the chosen one.
Whether this means that other agents are also chosen ones or former
residents of Zion, I don't have that all figured out yet, but it sort
of just came to me today.
