That would be a second part of my post. But again, my scenario is
purely hypothetical, since I can't offer any specific engineering
details as to what exactly needs to be done.

The only reason why I mentioned Kurzweil was that he provides well
known descriptions of the scenarios and conclusions that form the
basis for further discussion about identity preservation. I used
those scenarios for illustrative purposes only, and could easily do
without them. As you know, I disagree with Kurzweil on the gradual
uploading issue. But I also think he's right about many other things,
like a mind is a pattern independent of the substrate it runs on, for
example. I think we can all agree on that, right?
