Anyone volunteering to do such a thing would so mentally unbalanced that
surely they would be useless to perform any worthwhile duties to radio back
to earth before they die. As there are laws against assisting suicide, the
legal problems of getting permission to launch would be impossible to
overcome.
However I suppose it would be possible to land on a comet and bore down to
the centre, deposit the capsule containing DNA samples, and then fly back to
earth. But it would be a long time in the future before such a venture would
be economic, in my opinion. After such time has passed, the solutions to
many problems, maybe even ageing and disease, will have been found, so the
need for it would be much reduced. But still some intrepid explorers may
like to send their seed out into space and time.
